Grant is a South African born, self-taught photographer, who has taken his passion for the ocean and the natural world and turned it into a career shooting for adventure sports magazines and creating breathtaking images that have become much sought after works of art. Taking his camera into the water and swimming through huge waves on the north shores of Hawaii, Grant’s photos capture dramatic moments of power and chaos and distill them down to serene, contemplative scenes. Swimming directly towards these towering waves about to explode onto him, he finds time to pause and compose a lasting image. Details of wind and water are frozen into these magnificent portraits of waves, viewed from above, below and inside the curl. His fine art photos have been exhibited in New York City, San Fransisco, Los Angeles and Newport, RI and are much admired, with recent shows selling out. He is represented by the Belenky, Sagemore and Montanaro galleries. His adventure sports images have been published worldwide in magazines including Outside, Mens Journal, Surfer, Surfing, The Surfers Path, ESM, Waves and Zigzag. |
