 The natural world can be appreciated from afar, a glorious landscape of color and composition. But looking close is what really amazes me. It is then that the multitude of patterns reveal themselves. The way the ribs of sand on a beach mimic the veins of a leaf, or the web of rivers carving ridges and valleys in a mountain range, the ripples in a river, the sand bottom of the ocean. In the same way an unfolding fern, a sunflower whorl, a seashell and the curl of a breaking wave all exhibit the same geometry of a spiral, the building block of nature. Once you focus in closely, the truth of Einsteins words reveal themselves: "Look deep into nature, then you will understand everything better"
